In the president’s opinion, Congress and representatives of the judicial branch are preventing the peasantry and ethnic communities from receiving land quickly, thus also limiting progress in the fulfillment of the first point of the 2016 Peace Agreement between the Government and the extinct Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army.
“We are not being helped by judges in general, precisely because they are not making decisions but keeping the processes on the desk,” commented the ruler during the development in the Casa de Nariño of a Session of the National Intersectoral Commission for Agrarian Reform and Rural Development .
He noted that decisions are postponed due to “judicial collapse, because they do not prioritize this issue or for other reasonings of the deprivers.”
On the other hand, he objected that Congress has not yet approved the Agrarian Jurisdiction, a norm that would facilitate a greater celerity in the delivery of lands.
