More than 200 women entrepreneurs from the 21 member countries participated in the May 7-9 event under the theme “A prosperous COMESA Promoting Gender-Responsive Regional Integration for Unlocking Green Investments, Value Chains, Tourism, and Mining in the AFCFTA (African Continental Free Trade Area).”
The meeting, organized in partnership with the Ethiopian Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration, marked an important milestone in the ongoing efforts to empower women in business in member states.
African Union Commission (AUC) Deputy Chairperson Selma Malika Haddadi highlighted the regional economic organization’s contribution to intra-African trade and linking women as agents of economic transformation, who are also beneficiaries of that movement.
