In a statement, CPAZ recalled the leading role of the Red Army, which it described as the “direct heir” of the present Russian State, for having stopped “the crushing advance of the European hordes led by Nazism and fascism” with the backing of Japanese imperialism.
“It is an honor and a satisfaction to share with you the remembrance for the victims and the joy for that victory.
Promise and augury for the present times,” the collective noted.
CPAZ also stressed that World War II left more than 50 million victims, half of them Soviet.
The statement warns about the resurgence of similar threats in the present and affirms that Russia once again demonstrates its willingness to face them “together with humanity”, with the support of “countries that share its wisdom and love for freedom”.
Former Ecuadorian Deputy Foreign Minister Fernando Yepez also recalled the victory against fascism thanks to the fact that more than 25 million Soviets gave their lives in that glorious struggle.
“In Ecuador, many ignore this historical reality and believe that the best policy is to be a puppet of the United States and a shameful accomplice of a genocide”, the ex-diplomat warned in reference to the recent meeting of President Daniel Noboa with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
