About 16, 500 000 people, including 7, 400 00 internally displaced persons, need help, while the humanitarian response plan aims to support eight million during January to June 2025, the document indicated.
In turn, UN deputy spokesman Farhan Haq explained that the international organization and its partners continue to provide aid across the country, despite what he described as a “challenging funding environment.”
Efforts include supporting displacement sites, providing livelihoods, improving water supplies, and providing food and nutrition support, the official explained.
Farhan noted that the humanitarian appeal launched by the United Nations for January to June this year seeks to raise $2 billion, but so far funding has not exceeded 10 percent, with only $204 million secured.
On the other hand, the OCHA report confirmed that unexploded ordnance, mines and explosives left over from the war are still causing fatal injuries across the country.
More than 900 civilian casualties, including 367 deaths and 542 injuries, have been recorded since December 8, 2024, with children accounting for more than one-third of these cases, it said.
