At the opening of the meeting, Belousov said, “I am very glad to meet him. Yesterday he said very precisely that we are all children of one family, which is called the Soviet people. And this family defeated fascism”.

The Russian minister also recalled that Lieutenant General Bekbolotov once commanded the Panfilov division, which, according to Belousov, demonstrates the close connection in the common military history of the two countries.

During the negotiations, the Kyrgyz incumbent particularly emphasized the historical relationship between the two nations noting that “our grandfathers, hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, achieved the Great Victory of a great country, of a great people.”

Bekbolotov also expressed concern over attempts to rewrite the results of the Victory and stressed the importance of preserving the memory of the shared past.

Both sides confirmed their interest in further development of military-technical cooperation.

During the meeting, current issues of cooperation between the Russian and Kyrgyz Defense Ministries were discussed.
