Fumigation backpacks were delivered to its 40 Provincial Directorates and Health Areas to increase actions against the disease transmitted by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.
When handing over the equipment, the Minister of Health, Víctor Atallah, expressed his confidence that the incidence of dengue in the country will be much lower than in 2024, when it was reduced by more than 350% compared to the projections for this region.
He recalled that this result was due to the actions carried out by the Ministry of Health, through the Elimina, Limpia y Tapa campaign, which included cleaning, fumigation and educational campaigns on the importance of eliminating the breeding sites of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.
Meanwhile, the vice-minister in charge of the Provincial Health Directorates, Luis Nelson Rosario, assured that this portfolio will continue to work for a better control of dengue.
He thanked for the acquisition and delivery of the fumigation motorcycle pumps, one of the main tools to avoid the mosquito reproduction, together with other actions, such as the use of abate and chlorine.
Dengue can cause headache and joint pain, fever and other symptoms, so health authorities are urging people to go to hospitals to avoid severe forms of the disease.
