City of Buenos Aires selected as World Capital of Sport

This recognition is given to cities for their high level of sports promotion and development, according to the Association of European Capitals and Cities of Sport (ACES), a pioneering foundation in the promotion of sports.

ACES has been selecting the European Capital of Sport since 2001 and the World Capital of Sport since 2019.

Monaco is the current recipient, and Baku will be selected in 2026. “Being selected as the World Capital of Sport is a great satisfaction; it positions us as global leaders and puts us on a par with the world’s leading cities,” Jorge Macri said when presenting the award this morning at the Olympic Park in Villa Soldati.
