A statement on the Italian Foreign Ministry’s website states that at the meeting, to be held in London, Tajani and his counterparts from the UK, France, Germany, Poland, and Spain will reaffirm their support to Kiev in the war against Russia, and the proposal for a 30-day ceasefire.
The meeting, to which Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha will attend, will analyze the plans for that country’s reconstruction after the conflict ends and the steps for its future accession to the European Union (EU), according to the release.
Participants will also discuss the preparations for the next summit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), to be held in The Hague, the Netherlands, on June 24-25, in particular the initiatives for the “improvement of the European pillar” of the alliance, and the rearmament plan promoted by the EU.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni reaffirmed on Saturday her country’s stance in favor of promoting peace negotiations, but against the initiative promoted, mainly by France and the United Kingdom, regarding the deployment of European military forces on Ukrainian territory.
