Bolivian Minister Denies Opposition Deputy’s Speculation

La Paz, May 13 (Prensa Latina) An alleged meeting for electoral purposes at the Casa Grande del Pueblo (government headquarters) between representatives of the so-called "Arcismo" and "Evismo" sectors has been ruled out, according to statements from an official source.

Minister of the Presidency, Maria Nela Prada, denied any speculation in statements to the press to opposition deputy Miguel Roca and denied the existence of such a possible meeting between representatives of sectors aligned with President Luis Arce (Arcismo) and former President Evo Morales (Evismo) ahead of the general elections on August 17.

“We clarify once again,” Prada stated, “that the national government has no agreement with the Evismo parties with a view to the general elections. I categorically deny the statements made by the opposition legislator.”

The minister emphasized that Roca’s assumptions are the result of conjecture that has no seriousness or support.

According to the congressman, who supports the neoliberal policies promoted by the United States government and the International Monetary Fund, emissaries from both sides met at the Executive Branch headquarters with the goal of reaching an agreement ahead of the general elections next August.

For oposition deputy, the idea would be to name Morales as the candidate and divide the list of legislators evenly.

He added that, if this were the case, Arce would name the vice-presidential candidate, howver, Roca did not provide any proof.
