Immediate response to any type of disaster or emergency is crucial. And when you think about it, this is even more necessary for our Mount Kanlaon evacuees, who have been displaced for almost five months.
“We must assure them that we are addressing their needs,” Undersecretary Irene Dumlao of the Disaster Response Management Group said in a press release.
According to records, 1,763 families or 5,678 people from the town of La Castellana and the cities of La Carlota and Bago are currently housed in evacuation centers.
The DSWD official said that before the latest eruption, the agency had more than 267,000 boxes of family food packages and other non-food items already positioned in department offices in Western and Central Visayas.
