During a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Turkish leader argued that a comprehensive ceasefire would create the necessary conditions for starting peace talks, and the opportunity should not be missed.
Erdogan’s administration noted that the president considers it extremely important that Moscow and Kiev seek to resume direct talks. Ankara is ready to provide support at all stages of this process.
Erdogan will be pleased to receive delegations from Russia and Ukraine in Türkiye for peace talks.
Speaking to journalists in the Kremlin on May 11, Putin proposed to Kiev’s authorities to resume, without preconditions, the direct talks that had been suspended in 2022.
The president also cited May 15 as the day for the direct talks.
