The day before, the National Assembly (Parliament) of Nicaragua approved the law declaring May 15 as Youth Day, thus recognizing the role of young people as a vital force in libertarian struggles defending peace, life, dignity, and national sovereignty.
The proposed legislation, which was sent to Parliament by Co-Presidents Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo for urgent approval, establishes activities for the government, state bodies, and public institutions on the date.
Likewise, it mandates public and private educational institutions at all levels, the media, and municipal and regional governments to carry out activities together with Nicaraguan families, communities, and youth.
Parliament speaker Gustavo Porras described the event as historic and memorable, while highlighting the strength of the youth in continuing to raise the Nicaraguan flag and continue building paths to victory, peace, and prosperity.
In turn, the Minister of Youth, Darling Hernandez, emphasized that the declaration represents a greater commitment from the young vanguards in defense of the Revolution.
