The president decreed to identify as such the dissidents of the Oliver Sinisterra Front and Comandos de la Frontera, of the extinct guerrilla group of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the Comuneros del Sur, of the National Liberation Army (ELN).
According to the Executive, these groups have “influence within the internal armed conflict in Ecuadorian territory”.
Ecuadorian authorities accuse Comandos de la Frontera of being behind the murder of 11 soldiers who were carrying out an operation against illegal mining in the Alto Punino sector, located in the Amazon, between the provinces of Orellana and Napo.
After this event, which occurred in the province of Orellana, the Armed Forces deployed more than 1,500 soldiers to the Amazon jungle to locate members of the Border Commandos.
In a statement, the Army informed that a presumed guerrilla of that group died in a confrontation and three others were detained.
