According to statements by the head of the Syrian Drug Control Department, Khaled Eid, the operation lasted more than a month and targeted a network involved in smuggling between the two neighboring nations.
He added that the authorities were able to arrest the members of the cell and seize large quantities of drugs, estimated at more than nine million Captagon tablets, of which approximately five million were smuggled into Türkiye.
Eid confirmed that the detainees will be referred for investigation and clarified that these efforts are part of the ongoing cooperation between the two countries to combat drug trafficking.
Earlier this month, the Interior Ministry in the Syrian transitional government announced the seizure of a drug production facility in the central province of Homs, near the border with Lebanon.
