“There is a political and diplomatic dialogue between Russia and the United States, which is cautiously optimistic,” the senior official stated this Monday at a meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council in the Kyrgyz capital, reported the newspaper Vzgliad.
Tasmagambetov believes that the mere fact of contacts between Russian and US representatives is important from the perspective of “normalizing the military and political situation in the world.”
The Secretary General expressed confidence that the impact of the dialogue between Moscow and Washington “will have the most direct impact on global processes and will help reduce tensions in several regions of Eurasia, including the CSTO zone of responsibility.”
The Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly is meeting in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, which holds the presidency of the organization this year. This time, the Council is chaired by the Speaker of the State Duma (the lower house of the Russian Parliament), Vyacheslav Volodin, who also chairs the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
