Early in the morning, the Cuban delegation, headed by Ambassador Rogelio Polanco, laid a wreath at the Mausoleum where the remains of Ho Chi Minh, the man whom the diplomat described as an “extraordinary universal leader,” are buried, and whose 135th birth anniversary is commemorated this May 19.
Shortly after, at downtown Tao Dan Park and along with members of the Vietnamese Graduates Club in Cuba, veterans of the Truong Son-Ho Chi Minh trail, and representatives of solidarity organizations, the diplomatic corps and local authorities commemorated the 130th anniversary of the Cuban Independence Apostle’s death in combat.
“Jose Marti is in the deep soul of our nation.
His emancipatory and humanist thought conforms the foundations of the national identity and the ideological bases of the Cuban Revolution”, Polanco underscored there and added, “his concepts of Homeland and humanity remained forever fused in our doctrine and daily action.”
