The initiative, called Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, will extend to 723 districts across the country and seeks to raise awareness among some 150 million farmers about the introduction of modern technology and the use of new seed varieties, Chouhan explained at a press conference.
The minister added that a team of scientists will visit nearly 65,000 villages to train farmers in practical and scientific farming techniques.
Chouhan affirmed that agriculture remains the backbone of the national economy, providing a livelihood for nearly half of the population and forming the basis for the country’s food security.
