Minister of Transmigration Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara stated that the collaboration aims to improve the community’s well-being, its economy, and to strengthen national food security.
“The new concept of transmigration implies that communal lands will be managed by the community as assets, allowing for a benefit-sharing scheme between the community and investors,” the official explained.
The Ministry indicated that the 10,000 hectares will serve as a pilot project to raise 5,000 female cattle, with the support of a Brazilian investor through Asia Beef and the Indonesia-Brazil Oil Consortium.
The Ministry currently has 3.1 million hectares of land under transmigration land management rights, of which over half a million will be used to develop the national livestock ecosystem.
As for, Agung Suganda, Director General of Livestock and Animal Health at the Ministry of Agriculture, developing the livestock ecosystem will help meet the nation’s meat and milk needs.
