According to the state news agency KCNA, the general secretary of the Workers’ Party (WPK) and chairman of the State Affairs Committee laid a flower and observed a moment of respectful silence at the resting place of the man considered one of his main political mentors.
During his visit to the Patriotic Martyrs’ Cemetery, the leader spoke highly of Hyon Chol Hae (August 13, 1934 – May 19, 2022), who served as Kim Il Sung’s bodyguard during the Korean War.
Considered one of the DPRK’s most important military and political leaders, he was deputy director of the General Political Department of the People’s Army and an active official in the WPK, serving as a member of its Central Committee and Political Bureau.
