Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu met separately with students of the Max S. Baucus Institute of the University of Montana. The Party leader said that despite the difficulties the China-US relationship has gone through, the friendship between their peoples has remained unchanged.
He underscored that a healthy and stable development of the China-US relationship is in line with the common interests of the two countries and the expectations of the international community.
He reiterated that China maintains a policy toward the United States based on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and cooperation for shared benefit, and emphasized the fundamental role of young people in the future of bilateral relations.
The US side, in turn, affirmed that the future of US-China relations depends on its younger generation.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has repeatedly encouraged friendly relations between the peoples of China and the United States as a way to promote mutual understanding.
