“The Security Cabinet will meet tomorrow, and we can talk a little more about the support being given to Veracruz,” the president announced in response to a question during her regular press conference on Monday.
The administration is promoting a national security strategy based on four pillars: addressing the root causes, enhancing the National Guard, intelligence and investigation, and coordinating with federal entities.
As part of the actions against criminal groups, between October 1st, the start of the current administration, and May 6th, law enforcement officers arrested more than 20,000 persons for high-impact crimes and seized 154 tons of drugs and 10,329 firearms.
In addition, the Army and Navy destroyed 896 clandestine laboratories and concentration areas for the production of methamphetamine in 19 states, reported Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection Omar García. He added that “In these operations, more than one million liters and more than 200 tons of chemical substances have been seized. This is an unprecedented figure that represents an economic impact on criminal organizations of hundreds of millions of pesos.”
According to the official, this translates into “less violence on the streets, fewer criminals affecting the peace of families, fewer harmful substances that put the health of our youth at risk, and fewer resources for criminal organizations.”
The executive secretary of the National Public Security System, Marcela Figueroa, reported on May 6, a 24.9 percent reduction in the incidence of intentional homicide between September 2024 and last April.
