On the 130th anniversary of the death in action of Cuban Apostle Jose Marti (1853-1895), the Central American country’s foreign minister noted that the revolutionary ties between the two nations are stronger than ever.
The Nicaraguan foreign minister conveyed the greetings of his country’s highest authorities to Army General Raul Castro and President Miguel Diaz-Canel, while noting that the history of struggle of the Latin American and Caribbean peoples, and especially of Cuba and Nicaragua, are closely intertwined.
“Many may think these are coincidences, but the truth is that our heroes have been inspired by the examples of struggle, perseverance, and victories in each of their experiences,” he stated.
On the other hand, the Foreign Minister referred to the expansionist pretensions of imperialism and affirmed that they have not changed, although today the empires of yesterday may be wearing new clothes.
“The free peoples of the world are aware of the new forms that imperialist perversions take, now translated into blockades, unilateral coercive measures, media campaigns, arbitrary lists, and coup attempts such as those imposed on Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, trying to put an end to our sovereign, upright, and dignified revolutions that do not submit,” he emphasized.
Jaentschke added that Cuba will continue to build its socialist revolution, Venezuela its Bolivarian revolution, and “our Nicaragua, our blessed and forever free Christian, socialist, and united homeland, the future and victory always belong to the people.”
