The destroyers Severomorsk and Vice Admiral Kulakov participated in the maneuvers, training in the search and destruction of enemy submarines, as well as the use of anti-submarine weapons, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense’s report.
The exercise area was previously closed to civilian ships and aircraft. During the maneuvers, the ships operated in cooperation with Ka-27 anti-submarine helicopters of the joint aviation corps.
The crews fired torpedoes at a simulated submarine using a standard torpedo without a warhead. In addition, the sailors launched missiles and bombs at maritime targets.
The crews of the anti-submarine vessels carried out tasks to repel air and UAV attacks, as well as combat unmanned vessels, according to the Ministry of Defense.
