During the meeting, the three ministers highlighted the achievements of this mechanism and explored ways to strengthen mutual cooperation in various areas.
Regarding the situation between India and Pakistan, Wang Yi stated during the talks with his Pakistani counterpart that Beijing welcomes and supports both nations in properly managing their differences through negotiation, achieving a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire, and seeking a solution.
Regarding the trilateral dialogue, the Chinese Foreign Minister said that the meeting strengthens political trust between the three countries. “China supports the efforts of Afghanistan and Pakistan to pursue development paths in line with their national realities,” said Wang Yi, reaffirming China’s support for the sovereignty, security, and dignity of both countries.
The representatives of Afghanistan and Pakistan expressed their willingness to upgrade their diplomatic relations and exchange ambassadors as soon as possible. China welcomed this step and offered to further facilitate the improvement of bilateral relations between the two nations.
On economic matters, the importance of expanding cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative was highlighted, including the possible extension of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to Afghanistan, viewinng to strengthen regional connectivity.
According to the official statement, the parties also reiterated their opposition to terrorism in all its forms and agreed to deepen cooperation in security and justice to combat terrorist groups that harm their national interests.
Regarding China-Pakistan ties amid the current crisis with India, the Chinese Foreign Ministry previously emphasized that bilateral ties encompass very close cooperation and are not directed against any third country.
