Palestinian NGOs accuse Israel of obstructing aid to Gaza

Ramallah, May 21 (Prensa Latina) Amjad Shawa, director of the Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Network, accused Israel on Wednesday of obstructing the entry of trucks laden with aid for the Gaza Strip.

After strong international pressure, including from allies, the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu allowed, this week, in a limited way and under tight security measures, the entry of food, medicines, and other essential supplies after imposing a total blockade on the territory since October 2.

Shawa indicated that the vehicles have not yet reached the United Nations warehouses located in the coastal enclave.

He warned that the country “is trying to evade international pressure by claiming that it is allowing aid to enter.”

The Network warned on Tuesday about the humanitarian collapse in Gaza due to the blockade and Israel’s military offensive, and called on the world to stop the war. UN Secretary-General’s Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric confirmed on Tuesday, “while more supplies have arrived in the enclave, we have been unable to ensure their arrival at our warehouses and delivery points.”
