In the PROVINCE, the head of state met with volunteers who provided aid to the local population following the invasion by the Armed Forces of Ukraine that began on August 6TH of last year. “We are one team, and the entire country is one team. That is, without a doubt, the success of all our initiatives. It is an indispensable condition for achieving all our goals,” Putin said during the meeting.
The Russian leader also emphasized that the Ukrainian military is again trying to advance toward the border from Sumy Province, and accused them of neo-Nazi ideology, pointing to the deliberate destruction of World War II monuments as proof of this.
Putin was accompanied on the tour by the acting governor of the region, Alexander Khinshtein, and the first deputy head of the Presidential Administration, Sergei Kirienko.
During his visit to the province, Putin visited the construction site of the new Kursk-2 nuclear power plant in the city of Kurchatov.
This was the president’s first visit to the region since it was completely liberated from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the completion of the operation on April 26th.
Putin previously visited the region in March, shortly after another successful operation that allowed Russian soldiers to come out at the rear of the Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region.
