The Foreign Ministry website indicates that, shortly before his departure, Tajani stressed that Mexico “is currently a strategic economic partner,” as “the leading destination of our exports, thanks to the “significant Italian business presence” in that Latin American nation.
The foreign minister pointed out that trade relations have developed especially in the last few years, “with a dynamic exchange that exceeded eight billion euros in 2024.” This mission, the first by an Italian foreign minister in the last decade, aims to increase those results.
Tajani will meet in Mexico City with his counterpart, Juan Ramon de la Fuente, as well as Economy Secretary Rosa Icela Rodriguez, Security Secretary Omar Garcia, and Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez.
During these meetings, the two-nation relations will be discussed within the framework of the Strategic Partnership launched in 2012.
Tajani will also attend the Italy-Mexico Business Forum to promote the implementation of his country’s Export Action Plan, which seeks to strengthen relations in industrial sectors such as the automotive industry, green economy, infrastructure, and food production and processing.
