The ministerial headquarters was isolated by the police and the unknown man was arrested after negotiations, in the afternoon hours of Thursday.
The suspect was accompanied by two children (aged two and four) and a woman.
The PMDF is still investigating whether the device is explosive and the motive behind the threat.
According to the Fire Department, the attacker and the children were sent to a public health unit for evaluation. “All uninjured,” the statement released said.
An attacker, linked to the extreme right, perpetrated on the night of November 13 an attack in front of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), rekindling the debate on political violence in Brazil.
Identified as Francisco Wanderley Luiz, the assailant tried to gain access to the STF and, failing to do so, threw homemade explosive devices in front of the superior court building.
Later, Wanderley Luiz, 59 years old, died after activating a device attached to his body, when he was reprimanded by a security guard.
The man described as a terrorist was a former councilman candidate of the Liberal Party, the political organization headed by former president Jair Bolsonaro.
