The meeting will run until May 28th and will be opened by José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, Executive Secretary of ECLAC.
According to the organization, ministers from 13 countries will be present, as well as renowned experts from international organizations, academia, non-governmental organizations, and civil society.
Attendees will address the challenges of fiscal policy in a context marked by low regional growth and high global uncertainty.
The seminar’s topics include public spending and investment to reduce structural gaps and tax policy to reduce inequality and promote environmental sustainability.
Presentations by representatives from the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the International Monetary Fund are expected.
Officials from the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations, and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, which sponsors the event, will be among the participants.
