The head of Internal Security in the Damascus-Field Governorate, Hussam Al-Tahhan, said that the operations were carried out after receiving intelligence information about Daesh cells in the towns of Kisweh, Deir Khabiyeh, Al-Muqaylibah and Zakia, south and southwest of Damascus.
He indicated that quantities of light, medium and heavy weapons were seized from the possession of the cells of this radical group, in addition to anti-tank missiles, explosive devices and suicide vests, which they planned to use to destabilize the region.
On the 16th of this month, the security forces carried out an operation against a Daesh group hideout in the city of Aleppo, head of the homonymous province in the north of the country.
The operation resulted in the arrest of four members of a terrorist cell, while the clashes that accompanied the operation resulted in the death of a General Security Force officer.
The Daesh group escalated its terrorist actions since the beginning of this year, carrying out 77 operations since the beginning of 2025, including armed attacks, targeted assassinations and bombings.
Such actions resulted in the death of 28 people, including 18 members of the Syrian Democratic Forces, five Daesh terrorists and an equal number of civilians, in addition to dozens of wounded.
