Several media outlets are reporting statements from attorney Fernando Burlando, who broke his silence after the trial was suspended last week until Tuesday.
He described the defense’s feelings as outrage and raised the possibility that the court case over the soccer player’s death could be discarded, according to MinutoUno.
This May 27, the trial’s continuation will be decided because Judge Makintach is suspected of secretly and unauthorizedly recording a documentary about the case.
This situation seriously compromises her participation and jeopardizes the continuity of the hearing.
That day, the Third Criminal Court could reject the judge, or Makintoch herself could excuse herself from attending the scheduled hearing if she deems it necessary.
In this context, Burlando, a lawyer representing Diego Maradona’s daughters, told the news channel C5N that one feels “more than frustration, anger.”
The lawyer reiterated that, in violation of the rules, Judge Makintoch secretly allowed people to film the hearings.
In other words, the judges were watching them at all times, but the parties’ defense attorneys were not.
This prompted the defendants’ defense attorneys to recuse the judge and request an investigation into such violations.
