The statement specifies that the meeting focused on implementing the memorandum of understanding between the relevant departments of both countries.
The Russian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dmitri Tetenkin, and the Emirati delegation by Deputy Minister of Climate Change and Environment Mohammed Saeed Sultan Al Nuaimi.
The parties discussed biodiversity conservation, waste management, hydrometeorology, and forestry, with particular attention to cooperation in the study and restoration of populations of endangered bird species, such as falcons and great bustards.
Leading zoological institutions from both countries are expected to participate.
Tetenkin also invited the UAE to participate in the international forum on the conservation of birds of prey, which will be held on September 3 in Vladivostok. In addition, the Russian side emphasized the importance of the Arab country’s accession to BRICS and thanked the Emirati partners for their participation in preparing the environmental component of the declaration adopted at the 2024 BRICS summit.
