According to sources in the Governorate, the device exploded in a residential area while the children were playing, and they were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Earlier this month, similar explosions caused by unexploded ordnance, remnants of the war, killed and injured several children in the northern province of Idlib.

The Syrian Civil Defense warned that millions of mines and munitions continue to threaten the lives of civilians due to their spread throughout all regions as a result of the prolonged war.

According to a recent report by Human Rights Watch, landmines and explosive remnants of war have killed or injured more than 600 persons in Syria since December 2024.
