Some 490 Syrian companies and 250 from other nations, – 112 of them from Turkey -, are taking part in this event, sponsored by the Ministries of Economy and Industry and Public Works and Housing.

The companies exhibit their products and services related to construction materials, alternative energy, hydraulic technology, furniture, real estate development, engineering offices, maritime transport, banking, and security systems.

China, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan also participated in the fair, which will run until June 2.

Speaking to the press, Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Basil Abdul Hanan stressed on the importance of holding Buildex at the same time as the lifting of US and European sanctions and the next phase of reconstruction.

For his part, Muhammad Hamza, CEO of the International Fairs Company, considered the fair to be an important platform for boosting participation in reconstruction and the entry of investment into the Syrian market.

More than 200 new companies are present for the first time, and the exhibition is one of the most prominent in the region, he noted.
