During a telephone call, Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia’s rejection of all forms of occupation and expulsion of the population of the Gaza Strip.
The prime minister emphasized that Malaysia’s foreign policy is based on national interests and firm convictions, and criticized the hypocrisy of countries that allow massacres without taking action, which he described as a betrayal of universal values.
Anwar Ibrahim also thanked Masoud for his assistance in the repatriation of two Malaysian citizens detained in Iran. He highlighted bilateral cooperation in education, technology, food security, trade, investment, and energy. He also welcomed the resumption of flights between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur, which he described as an opportunity to strengthen economic and cultural ties.
The Prime Minister also spoke with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the Palestinian suffering and agreed with him not to remain indifferent to the crisis in Gaza.
Anwar described Erdogan’s recent official visit to Malaysia as the most significant in the country’s diplomatic history and a reflection of an alliance based on shared values of justice, sovereignty, and development.
