According to a publication by the Foreign Minister in X, “by suppressing visas for foreign students at prestigious American universities, the US government intends to forcibly silence voices within that same country that denounce US complicity in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.”
“The truth will never be silenced,” the minister emphasized.
As part of Donald Trump administration’s offensive against migration, the State Department recently instructed U.S. embassies and consulates around the world to stop issuing new student visas.
Under the provision, the issuance of these visas will be paused while work is done on guidelines to expand the “screening and verification of social media” for all applicants, the government agency said.
This is another move by the Trump administration to hinder thousands of international students from enrolling at U.S. universities.
