Minh Chinh’s visit to Sweden is a key step for closer cooperation

Hanoi, Jun 12 (Prensa Latina) The three-day official visit that Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh begins in Sweden on Thursday is a key step to move towards even closer bilateral cooperation in the future.

“Sweden sees this visit as an opportunity to celebrate the historic friendship” that unites the two countries, Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam, Johan Ndisi, underscored, that it also represents a significant milestone in the strong and long-standing bilateral relationship.

Sweden became the first Western state in 1969 to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam, and provided strong support during this nation’s struggle for independence. It also offered valuable material and spiritual assistance in the country’s renewal and development process.

The diplomat noted that Stockholm seeks to deepen ties with Hanoi in priority areas such as sustainable development, innovation, and digital transformation, sectors in which it has a global leadership position and where Vietnam is also making progress.

Sweden and Vietnam are not only strategic partners, but also reliable friends, Ndisi and noted that the two nations share a common vision on key issues such as sustainable development and digital technology, demonstrating a shared will to seek smart solutions for the future.

The Swedish ambassador also ratified his country’s willingness to support Vietnam’s transition to a low-carbon economy through investments, technology transfer, and public policy advice, especially in renewable energy, power grid modernization, and clean technologies.
