A typical family, composed of two adults and two minors, needed in May 2025 one million 110 thousand 623 pesos (965.76 dollars) to avoid falling below poverty line. The figure represents an increase of 0.1 percent with respect to the previous month and 30.5 percent in the interannual comparison, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec).
At the time of announcing the inflationary drop in May, news that the government quickly fluttered, the Indec then offered the value of the Total Basic Basket (CBT), which includes food plus other goods such as basic services, transportation, health and education, which the government did not contemplate in its propagandized inflation.
In other types of households, the situation does not improve. A family of three needed more than 884,000 pesos (US$768.70) to avoid being considered poor, and 398,000 pesos (US$346) to avoid falling into indigence.
In the case of five-member households, the CBT reached 1,168,132 thousand pesos (1,015.77 dollars).
