According to a press release from the National Meteorological Service, the phenomenon formed at 15:00 local time yesterday, approximately 615 km south of Acapulco, and 725 km south-southeast of Zihuatanejo, both towns in the southwestern state of Guerrero.
Experts forecast heavy rains for this Friday in regions of Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca and Chiapas; very heavy rains in areas of Jalisco, Colima, Morelos, Puebla, Veracruz and Tabasco, and heavy rains in areas of Chihuahua, Durango, Coahuila, Tamaulipas and San Luis Potosí.
Rainfall is also expected in Nayarit, Guanajuato, Queretaro, Hidalgo, Mexico State, Mexico City, Tlaxcala, Campeche, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa, Nuevo Leon, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes and Yucatan, and isolated rainfall in Sonora.
On the other hand, wind gusts of 50 to 70 km/h are forecast in Nuevo León, Tamaulipas and the coasts of Michoacán, Guerrero and Oaxaca; possible tolvaneras in Chihuahua and Coahuila, and gusts of 40 to 60 km/h in San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Sinaloa, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
