Cuba and Sri Lanka explore possibility of expanding trade links

Colombo, Jun 16 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and Sri Lanka explored possibilities of expanding cooperation in the areas of trade and investment for the development of both countries, diplomatic sources reported.

The issue was discussed at a meeting in Colombo between the Minister of Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development of Sri Lanka, Wasantha Samarasinghe, and Cuban Ambassador Andres Gonzalez.

During the meeting, the diplomat handed Samarasinghe a letter of invitation sent by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Óscar Pérez-Oliva to participate in the XXXXI Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025), to be held from November 24 to 29.

Sri Lanka and Cuba have 65 years of diplomatic relations, as well as consolidated ties of friendship and solidarity, according to the diplomatic source.

However, their authorities recognize the possibility of strengthening bilateral ties in various sectors.
