Speaking at the forum’s plenary session, the island’s ambassador to the UN in Geneva, Rodolfo Benítez, affirmed that the ongoing aggression against Iran constitutes a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and international law, including the principles of sovereignty and the non-threat or use of force.

This policy, which Israel carries out with impunity, is only possible thanks to the military, financial, logistical, and political support guaranteed by the US government, he emphasized.

According to Benítez, the attacks of recent days, to which Iran has responded, seriously endanger regional and international stability and security, with unpredictable effects.

“The United States and Israel will have to answer for the consequences of an unjustified war against Iran,” the diplomat, who reiterated Cuba’s solidarity with the people and government of the Islamic Republic, said.

The ambassador also called on the international community, and in particular the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly, to exercise their primary responsibility to maintain peace and security.

In his speech, the representative of the Caribbean nation advocated prioritizing nuclear disarmament, which he considered a matter of survival.
