The diplomat visited the city of Perugia accompanied by Dr. Luis Enrique Perez, head of the Cuban Medical Mission in Italy, she met with the city’s mayor, Vittoria Ferdinandi, who expressed her willingness to support projects aimed at strengthening ties between the peoples from both countries.
As part of these actions, the Umbria Association of Internationalist Solidarity with Cuba, together with the city of Perugia and the pharmaceutical company AFAS, launched the “Cure Without Borders” campaign, aimed at collecting medicines and medical supplies for shipment to the island.
The event was also attended by the president of AFAS, Damiano Marinelli; the general director of that organization, Raimondo Cerquiglini; and Fabio Faina, leader of Umbria Association of Internationalist Solidarity with Cuba.
Those attending the meeting stressed on the importance of this initiative, which will run until December of this year.
The ambassador also met with the president of the province of Perugia, Massimiliano Presciutti, as well as with the president of the Umbria region, Stefania Proietti, who also expressed their interest in supporting efforts aimed at fostering ties with Cuba.
In statements to local media, Granda highlighted the importance of his tour of that Italian region and the positive results of his meetings with local authorities, as well as with business leaders and solidarity groups, which contributed to a closer relationship in the interest of fostering collaboration.
