Fertilizer exports to the EU amounted to €135.6 million in April, equal to €91.9 million last year, while the share of Russian companies increased from 19.1 to 25.1 percent of EU companies, reads the report.
According to the statistics, Poland remains the EU country that has purchased the most fertilizers from Russia, with €45.9 million in April, followed by Italy with €22.5 million, and the Netherlands with €12.8 million.
Last week, the EU Council approved prohibitive tariffs on fertilizer and agricultural imports from Russia and Belarus, despite protests from local farmers who fear rising prices. The measure will take effect on July 1.
