Tilakasiri, who is also the Secretary General of the Joint Committee of Democratic Trade Unions of Sri Lanka, ratified his position regarding the Caribbean nation during a meeting in Colombo with Cuban Ambassador Andres Gonzalez.

Bilateral issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting, diplomatic sources noted.

The Democratic Left Front party is part of the solidarity movement with Cuba in Sri Lanka.

The Havana mission to Colombo emphasized that it has repeatedly issued statements of support and solidarity with Cuba and opposed the economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed by Washington on the Caribbean nation for more than 60 years, which has caused countless harm and damages to the Cuban people.
