On his social media account, the president alluded to a report by the Noticias Caracol channel that broadcast certain findings about the case and questioned its intentionality.
Petro commented that this subliminal message disturbs the information and suggests that the Attorney General’s Office said there was a political motive, to which the President commented: “That cannot be said even today, and although it is an investigation hypothesis, it cannot yet be said with certainty that there were political motives in the attack and, worse still, the political interest of the true killer.”
So far, he explained, those captured are only members of Bogotá’s micro-trafficking network, and the masterminds of the perpetrators are still unknown.
“Caracol must be held accountable to Colombian society. The state wants to establish the legal truth; we don’t care about political hatred or revenge; this is how they have literally killed millions of Colombians. You will not become heralds of death; be heralds of life and truth. Be responsible,” he urged.
Senator and presidential candidate for the Democratic Center party, Miguel Uribe, was shot last Saturday, June 7, while giving a speech in a park in Fontibon, a town west of Bogota.
Despite having undergone surgery after the attack, his condition is extremely serious and his neurological prognosis is reserved, according to the most recent report from the medical center where he remains, the Santa Fe Foundation.
