According to a statement by the Presidency, the leader spoke last night with his Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian, the first contact between both of them after the outbreak of the conflict on June 13.
El Sisi reaffirmed Cairo´s commitment to work for an immediate ceasefire, allowing the resumption of negotiations to reach a sustainable and peaceful solution to the conflict.
In this regard, he emphasized the importance of working to reduce tension and ensure that the cycle of violence does not expand.
He also told his Iranian counterpart that the only way to ensure stability in the Middle East is to establish an independent Palestinian state in accordance with international standards.
In turn, Pezeshkian welcomed Egypt´s stance and agreed to find a just, comprehensive and final solution to the Palestinian issue.
On Saturday, the Egyptian leader also talked with king of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa about the regional situation.
Both sides expressed deep concern at the ongoing escalation between Israel and Iran, and warned of the serious consequences of a widespread conflict that could affect the entire region.
