Fidel Castro honored in Havana through literature

Havana, June 23 (Prensa Latina) The Fayad Jamis Bookstore in Havana is preparing its space to present a text that combines images and testimonies from those who shared the honor of having lived alongside Fidel Castro.

The book titled Privilegiados del tiempo.

Recuerdos de periodistas de la radio y la television (Privileged by Time: Memories of Radio and Television Journalists), by Ovidio Cabrera and Irma Caceres, features more than 100 photographs and nearly 30 testimonies signed by Cuban radio and television journalists and technicians.

At the event, the authors and Norma Galvez, director of Ediciones En Vivo, the house that publishes the volume, will speak with journalist and critic Fernando Rodriguez about this literary work that recreates moments lived alongside the Commander in Chief, both in Cuba and abroad.

According to its editors, the text “can become a great educational tool for new generations who will be able to appreciate the extraordinary human qualities of Fidel Castro Ruz.”

Ovidio Cabrera is the creator and founder of the news services of Cuban Television, as well as the founder of Canal Caribe and Telesur. He directed the television news program for more than a decade.

Recognized with the 2012 Jose Marti National Journalism Award, Irma Caceres has served as chief foreign correspondent for the Prensa Latina news agency, a commentator for the Cuban Television news system, and director of children’s and youth television newscasts, the Cuban Book Institute adds.
