During an event held yesterday in the Aula Magna of the Roma Tre University, the ambassador of Cuba to Italy, Mirta Granda, highlighted by giving such high recognition to Lancione that “it is difficult to sum up so much effort and dedication” of such a dear friend of her country.

The event was attended by the Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Gerardo Hernández, as well as officials from the diplomatic corps, members of friendship associations with the island, members of political parties and progressive forces, as well as representatives of the Cuban community living in this nation.

I would like to highlight Lancioni’s long career, his membership in progressive forces and his various responsibilities on the municipal council of the city of Teramo, in the central region of Abruzzo, where he founded the SocialCuba Association in 2004, for the development of programs of solidarity aid to this Caribbean nation.

In that year, he initiated several projects aimed at confronting with practical actions the criminal commercial, economic and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States.

These initiatives include, among many others, Semillitas del Futuro, through which donations were sent to children’s homes without filial support in the Cuban province of Pinar del Río.

Also the so-called Together we can, to which he joined his active coordination in the shipment of medical material for the fight against Covid-19, as part of the joint activity of the entire movement of solidarity with Cuba in Italy.

With his solidarity work, Lancioni demonstrates that “a feeling as pure and altruistic as the brotherhood can not be blocked,” emphasized Granda.

The ambassador concluded her speech with a sentence of her country´s national heroe, José Martí, “who managed to synthesize the principle that has guided the action of our brothers of solidarity, which today we recognize in Lancioni: Who stands up today for Cuba, stands up for all times”.
