Located along a coastline of white sand on Kalma Peninsula, near Wonsan, the capital city of the southwestern province of Kangwon, the mega-complex can accommodate nearly 20,000 visitors and offers world-class services.

Its facilities include a vast network of shopping, dining, culture, sports, and recreational centers, in perfect harmony with the landscape and designed in the Korean style, according to the state news agency ACNC.

After cutting the ribbon and touring the tourist center, Kim stated that this is “the proud first step in implementing the Party and government’s line on the development of cultural tourism.”

The chairman of the State Affairs Committee also announced that a plan will be presented at the 9th Congress of the WPK to build similar complexes in various regions with special scenic benefits, drawing on the experiences of the Wonsan-Kalma spa city.

This area should play a leading role in the design and implementation of our tourism culture, he noted.

According to ACNC, the complex will begin serving domestic tourists on July 1 and will gradually open to foreigners.
