In X the president of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament), Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, stressed: “Today, following the approval of the Constitutional Council, the law suspending cooperation with the IAEA has been officially announced”.
In the view of the parliamentary holder, “it is impossible to continue collaboration with an agency that facilitates war and aggression, and serves as executor of the inhuman interests of the Zionist regime, until we are guaranteed the full security of our nuclear facilities”.
Under the law, cooperation will remain suspended until Iran’s nuclear facilities and scientists are fully protected in accordance with the UN Charter and in agreement with the Supreme National Security Council.
At the same time, he emphasized that the cessation of cooperation will continue until Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear enrichment, guaranteed in Article 4 of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, is recognized and respected.
The law requires the government to submit a quarterly compliance report to Parliament and the Supreme Council.
